Clare has been a valued member of the team for nearly a decade. She is MOM’s Office Manager and, we are delighted to say, has also recently finished a degree in Psychology with the Open University.
We are putting Clare under the spotlight with 5 quick questions…
How did you start your career and what do you do now?
After finishing a career in marketing 14 years ago, I had two children and became a stay-at-home mum.
Then 8 years ago, my friend and next-door neighbour asked me if I wanted a few hours work here and there. I began with some filing and quickly became MOM’s Office Manager, responsible for invoicing, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, maintaining company documentation, proofreading and courses admin.
What drew you to the crowd management/events industry?
I’d always enjoyed running events during my marketing career and found the safety side fascinating, especially the psychological factors involved in crowd behaviour.
What would you say is your biggest achievement with MOM?
Applying for every grant possible to raise vital funds to keep the business going during the Covid-19 pandemic.
What has been your favourite part of working for MOM and why?
Working from home with flexible hours. This has enabled me to bring up a family, run a household and complete my second degree.
I can work until 10pm if one of my children has been off school ill or change one of my allocated working days to meet a deadline. No two days are the same.
What is one of the funniest things that has happened at work?
In our former office building; an old, converted mill, my desk was positioned underneath an air vent. Bees liked to fly down it but could not escape through the vent. On arriving in the office each morning, my first task was to hoover up the ‘bits’ of bee that had made their way through!
